Day in Tobermory

Continued to rain this morning. Ventured out as it abated a little. Kathi got it together to do laundry. I did dishes and then looked around in the different shops... very touristy and not cheap. I wanted to replace a Canada mug that got broken back in Sandusky, with a Tobermory one, but $14.95 for a ceramic mug was a bit much - nice, but not that nice! Lots of divers... commercial boats near where we are tied up go out a few times a day taking divers out to dive in Fathom Five National Marine Park that has lots of under water glacial rock formations and wrecks. Around 1pm the rain stopped completely and the sun came out. We had lunch at the Crow's Nest - Cracked Pepper Burger - good.  Finished up laundry, bailed out the dingy, and the grocery store.

While we were resting in the cockpit enjoying the sun a group of three people came by and asked to talk. The inquired about the boat name... in a Scottish brogue the woman said "you know that is Scots Gaelic for 'The Sun'"... turned out they were from the Outer Hebrides Islands of Scotland and she is a Scots Gaelic instructor! Both her husband and she are fluent speakers as are most in there area of Scotland. I told them the original story of wanting the name the boat "Celtic Sun", but everyone kept saying Seltic Sun instead of Keltic... they agreed that that would be very annoying. By the way, the correct pronunciation of of "A'Ghrian" is "Uh-Gree-aen."

Currently we are at "Fish & Chips Place" having a beer and a "fish" taco. It is right next door to the Public Library so I can get a strong free WiFi signal. May go for a dingy ride into Big Tub Harbor later to look at the wrecks over there and to check out where we may want to anchor tomorrow if we leave Little Tub were we are now.
