Charted route from Port Elgin to Kincardine
On the way down we saw the Bruce Nuclear Power Plant again and just before and behind were numerous Wind Power Generator Farms. We ended up sailing wing-on-wing dead down wind, but held around 7 knots of boat speed. Flying along with us were numerous Monarch Butterflies. As I understand it this is their time to head south to Mexico and California. We have seen them since we left Heywood Island and headed south ourselves.

Made it into Kincardine around 4pm. With the wind, I had a little problem trying to back in to our assigned slip - it took a couple of attempts before I was confident I had positioned the boat properly to stern in. There were a lot of concerned faces and some guys on other docks starting to head in our direction. The dock hands were very patient and let me do my thing. No problems! We got in, tied up, and hooked up to power and water.
We went to the Hawgs Breath Saloon for drinks and dinner - it was great and had a large selection of Single Malt Scotchs! I had a great butternut squash soup! After dinner we walked to the other end of Queen Street and back along the river and under the bridge. There were stairs going up next to the Lighthouse so we could go back across the bridge towards the marina. As we got there we saw people gathering at the railing of the bridge by the Lighthouse - the sun was setting. We decided to stay put there as we watch the bagpiper appear at the top of the Lighthouse. It is a tradition for a bagpiper to play at sunset. I will get a photo of the plaque that commemorates this activity and post it below for the full details.

Tuesday August 24 - Got up around 8:30pm. I made coffee and Kathi poured OJ, and I worked on composing video of the Piper from last night. It is posted above via YouTube. This morning we moved slowly and decided to stay another day. We talked to a relocated Scot named Gus Livingston. He sailed in just behind us yesterday afternoon on Santa Maria, about 24ft sailboat. He moved here from Glasgow (but originally from one of the Hebrides Islands of Western Scotland) back in 1969 and lives in the Sarnia area. We had a very nice conversation with him about sailing and Scotland. He gave us his number if we need anything when we get to Sarnia - just give him a ring.
Kathi is insistent that we head over to the beach and go for a swim and snorkel around the wreck just off shore. We need to be cautious as there are rip currents when the waves are high. In fact a young 16 year old girl from Quebec drown a couple weeks ago and there is a memorial on the bridge over looking the harbor and beach. Well, damn the torpedoes, we are heading out for a swim while we have sun and light winds...Wow! The water was too frig-in cold to be out there swimming around looking for a wreck for very long. We ended up sitting in the sun for awhile and then went for a hot shower. Kathi needed a nap after that... Not sure were we are going for dinner tonight: Gilley's Feed Lot or maybe the Bruce Bar & Grill. I will get Kathi up around 5:30pm and head for someplace. The sky continues to be partially cloudy, so the Piper will probably be out again tonight!
Gilley’s it was! We had all their specials: ½ price wings, baby back ribs, spaghetti with meat sauce. Yes, we took some back to the boat for later consumption. We sat in the cockpit and watched the Phantom Piper play one more time from the top of the light house. We plan to get up early and get going tomorrow morning heading to Bayfield. The wind is supposed to be from the Northwest at 15 knots, so looks like we go tomorrow to Bayfield...
