Little Current to East Rous

Monday August 2 - After the evening fireworks (l little bit of a let down. PIB is 10x better), we slept fine anchored off of Goat Island across the harbor from Little Current. Our CYC friends never showed up, but there were 3 or 4 other boats there with us. One guy (a sailboat!) thought it was appropriate to set of his emergency sky flares of with the fireworks! This is highly illegal in both the US and Canada. We go up and did the Roy Show, check-in and reporting we were going to East Rouse. We left around 10:30am, and arrived around 1pm at East Rouse meeting up with our friends the Harveys on ‘Mast Transit’.

It was raining off and on, and pretty heavy at times. Around 3:30pm as invited we headed over to visit with the Greg and Shelley on Mast Transit. Greg has the same Garmin GPSMap 276c like we do, but his is in the cockpit by the wheel. I need to get another wiring harness and get (or make) a mount for mine at the wheel too. Currently, one of us sits at the nav station below and gives instructions to adjust course. We also discussed their 20amp solar panel system: cost, mounting, and efficiency. Greg of course broke out some of their homemade red wine (“You want red or white? Hope you like red!”). They are both a “kick”. We were laughing so hard listening to their antics on their world travels via hostels, cruise ships, trains (it was like Trains, Planes, and Automobiles, they should write a script for a movie!). Shelley seems the one who catches the viruses or other illnesses while Greg sleeps through it all (except when it comes to the clean up when cruise ship personnel enter their cabin in HSMAT suites to sanitize). I was rolling on the floor. It was a great evening. We went back to our boat around 7:30pm as Kathi was visibly tired and Greg and Shelley were planning to be in Little Current at Wally’s by 7:30am.

I had brought my phone/camera, and had even shown them photos of Aaron, Maggie, Jenessa, and Tim, but forgot to take photos of them and their boat (it was raining pretty hard so I can understand skipping the boat and anchorage). I guess we were just having too much fun and I forgot my intentions.
