Monday July 5 -We were up by 7am to take showers and start packing. Aaron an Maggie want to leave by 9am. Got then up at 8am. Had breakfast and loaded up the car and were on our way to CYC and our boat by 9:15am. We checked-out and then were off to the boat. Aaron did not particularly like having to drive up onto the concrete pier out closer to our boat as we scraped bottom getting off gravel drive up and on to the pier... but he followed directions with some protest, but out to the end. After we unloaded we watched him back down the pier and safely back onto the gravel drive, then to the gate that they padlocked as we requested.
It is a sad moment to have them leaving. I love my son Aaron so dearly and it is so hard to watch them go. We did pay for their Scenic Caves Eco-Adventure Tour by sending him a bill-pay check to his Chase account. I told him to expect a surprise to cover both his (June 17th and Maggie's July16th) birthday presents. We love them both dearly and since Maggie ate and liked Oka cheese - she is now baptized into the Gagnon French Canadian side of my family. We have very strong positive feelings towards Tommy Metzner and Sharon Gaznik, Maggie's parents, and her brothers Adam and Jake too. We hope to spend some time with them in September back on PIB if we can.
Kathi and I went to Molly Bloom's Irish Pub, and then to The Admiral's Post Pub where all the CYC guys hang out. We had nice conversations about places to anchor, and again about what a woos I was to not go through the gap sailing here. They say skip Henry's Fish & Chips at Sans Souci on Fryingpan Island and go further north to some anchorages that no one goes to. Chris is going to come by tomorrow morning to show us on the charts. These CYC'ers have been real friendly and helpful. We may see them in the North Channel as we move north now.
